No-nonsense education cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i has ordered 300 public primary schools re-opened next week.
Through his Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, the CS revealed that over 20,000 class 2 pupils from across the country are expected back in their institutions between November 28 and 30.
This is in order to take part in a study aimed at improving the quality of mathematics as a subject.
The education ministry has directed Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia to inform all affected head teachers and senior teachers of this development.
“The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to request you to ask TSC County Directors to inform head teachers of schools and the curriculum support officers in the respective zones where the sampled schools are located, to participate in the baseline study on the said dates,” the letter reads in part.
